Service & Installations

James Cote is an ABYC Certified Master Technician [electrical, corrosion, marine systems, diesel systems] with a baccalaureate degree in electrical engineering. He has been repairing, servicing, modifying, and upgrading electrical systems on motor and sailing yachts for over thirty years.

He is especially adept at analyzing and solving technically complex and time sensitive problems for demanding or difficult customers. His expertise is not limited to domestic electrical systems, as he is well versed in electrical systems and automated switchboards from builders around the world.

The recent globalization of the yachting market has only made his expertise more valuable as increasing numbers of vessels from countries with 50 hertz shore power systems (Europe, Australia, Asia) come to North America wish to connect to our 60 hertz power grid. Likewise, American entrepreneurs often wish to ship American built vessel to Europe or Australia. We can convert your shore power system efficiently and effectively, sometimes at a fraction of the cost that others would charge. We are also happy to inspect your system for you and advise the steps that you can safely take, if you wish to perform some of the work yourself.

Our proficiencies also include, but are not limited to: alarm systems, alternators, batteries and battery chargers, charging systems, circuit breakers, magnetic contactors, corrosion control and impressed current systems, engine monitoring and control, frequency converters, fuses, gauges, generators, HVAC, hydraulics, infrared thermography, lightning protection, motors and controllers, PLCs, power conversion, power distribution, power source synchronization and load sharing, relays, shore power systems, switchboards, transducers, transformers, watermakers

Mr. Cote has been court qualified in various jurisdictions as a marine electrical and corrosion control expert. His services also include: estimates and surveys (prepurchase, safety, corrosion protection, insurance, flooding, fire, lightning damage, lightning protection); forensic accident and subrogation investigations (fire & explosion cause and origin, electrocution, flooding); compliance surveys to various marine standards such as American Boat and Yacht Council, American Bureau of Shipping, Lloyd’s Register, Bureau Veritas, DNV, Maritime and Coastguard Agency, etc.

He is familiar with numerous lines of domestic and international motor yachts including, but not limited to: Amel, Amels, Azimut, Benetti, Bertram, Broward, Burger, Cabo, Carver, Cheoy Lee, Christensen, Crescent, CRN, Cruisers, Denison Delta, Donzi, Feadship, Ferretti, Grand Banks, Hargrave, Hatteras, Hinckley, Horizon, Huckins, Jefferson, Johnson, Kadey-Krogen, Lazzara, Lurssen, Maiora, Marlow, Neptunus, Nordhavn, Ocean Alexander, Ocean Yachts, Oyster, Palmer-Johnson, Princess, Queenship, Riviera, SeaRay, Sunseeker, Symbol, S2, Tarrab, Tiara Trinity, Viking, Westbay, Westport, Westship
